A Dreamy Outdoor Space

Christine and Kent along with their three boys were looking for a house in South Stafford with more land for their boys to play and explore. They also wanted a beautiful outdoor area that would be secluded and restful for their family to relax and entertain. When they saw the brick Georgian style home sitting on a large wooded lot with a pond they knew they needed to look no further.

Join me and enjoy an outdoor tour of their gorgeous property, and then check back next week when we tour the inside of this unique home.

The home was originally designed and built by a renowned architect from D.C. Over the years, he designed other homes for his family but this home captured all the elements that he and his wife loved.

When Christine and Kent heard the story of the home, it made them fall in love with it even more knowing that so much care, love and devotion had been put into designing and building it.

The front is beautiful but it is the back outdoor space that takes your breath away. With the natural beauty that surrounds the entire home, it is easy to see why their boys and their dog love being outside, playing and looking for adventure.

The outdoor space around the home feels like a secret garden with several seating areas placed around the property. There are many wonderful spots to experience and enjoy! For the kids, hide and go seek is the perfect game to play outside.

Taking care of the property has proved to be challenging but Christine said that it has strengthened their family as everyone has to pitch in. It has also been fun for the family to learn about all the plants that grow around the house.

The seating area down by the pond gives the couple a place to relax and watch their boys on their paddleboards and canoes. When extended family and friends come to visit, they all get a “camp experience” right in their own backyard – how fun is that?!?

With a perfectly placed brick patio off the basement, the family enjoys grilling their favorite meal, entertaining and relaxing.

The side of the home has a large screened in porch set off with tall, stately columns and offers plenty of use for reading, dining or relaxing.

“The screened in patio – it is so lovely to sit out there on a hot summer night and listen to the chorus of frogs.” – Christine

Fun little statues and knick knacks that were left by the previous homeowners are sprinkled around the property and make the Archibald’s smile. This little frog guy definitely was posing for the camera!

Check back next week as we tour the inside of the home!
